Quad Fish surfboards are great for surfing tiny waves
as these boards have less drag and go fast! Quad fish generally have a
swallow tail design and 4 fin setup. Some feature a plug for a fifth
fin or to turn them into a normal three fin
fish surfboard.
Quad fish are fast becoming the summer board choice for advanced
surfers who want to get every extra inch of speed in small waves. 4-fin
design is not new and is now appearing on bigger boards, guns and even
longboards.
Advantages of Quad Fish Surfboards
Quadfish
are all about speed. Perfect for small waves. They move quickly over
flat sections of the wave while you are surfing and are very loose off
the top and in the whitewater for tail sliding.
Disadvantages of Quad Fish Surfboards
Quad fish go fast in a straight line but take a little more skill and
effort to do full on-rail turns. In general they don't handle medium to
large waves. Quad's surf differently off the top and your normal tight
snaps are much easier on a normal fish surfboard. Many say they change your surf style which might mean you would prefer a thruster fish thruster fish but at Surfboards Direct we love quad fish surfboards!
